Jessie “Leone” Petet, 92 of Blair, formerly of West Point, died July 18, 2006 at Crowell Memorial Home in Blair. Services will be 10:30 am. Saturday at Stokely Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery. Visitation will be 9:00 am. until 8:00 pm. Friday at Stokely Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Mount Hope Cemetery Renovation. Those wishing to leave on line condolences may do so at www.stokelyfuneralhome.com. Leone was born the eldest of six children, March 23, 1914, at Somerfeld to Howard and Sylvia Wolf Cooper. She attended elementary school in Somerfeld and graduated with the class of 1932 from Sargent High School. Leone then taught school for a short time in Loup County, and then worked at different places in Sargent where she met and married Carl Petet on November 4, 1939. The couple worked in Sargent before moving to the Fremont Tekamah area where they farmed for many years. They both worked in Tekamah after selling the farm, moving to West Point in 1956. There they operated C & L Tap until 1976. Leone also worked at the local J. C. Penny store until Carl’s health failed. After his death in 1978 she worked at D & L Craft until it closed. In 2001, she moved to St. Joseph’s Retirement Community and in 2003 to Crowell Memorial Home in Blair. Leone was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and Isaac Walton Women’s League. Survivors include her sister Donna Brechbill of Blair, brothers Robert (Flo) Cooper of Bellevue and Glenn (Emily) Cooper of Sargent, daughter in law Sybil Petet of San Diego CA, and granddaughter Lynn Boresch of San Diego, CA and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, step son Dale Petet, sisters Louise Cook and Inez Anderson.
