The couple farmed until the late 1980’s when Slim semi-retired and began his passion of woodworking. Slim was an avid baseball fan and could be found sitting in his chair in the evening listening to the Minnesota Twins. He also loved going to the Cuming County Fair where his favorite activity involved watching the local baseball teams in the fair tournament. Slim also entered many of his woodworking projects in the fair where he received many ribbons.
