Leona Meier, 74, of West Point, entered into her eternal rest surrounded by her loving daughters on December 14, 2023 at CHI Immanuel Hospital in Omaha NE.  Memorial Services will be 10:30am on Saturday, January 6 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in West Point with Rev. James Weeder as celebrant.  Burial will be at St. Michael’s Cemetery with lunch following at the GACC Cafeteria.  Visitation will be Friday, January 5 from 12:00pm to 7:00pm at with a Vigil Service at 7:00pm at Stokely Funeral Home.  Family will be present at visitation from 5:00pm to 7:00pm.  Memorials may be directed to the family for future designation.  Arrangements by Stokely Funeral Home.

Leona Catherine Meier was born February 5, 1949 in West Point NE to Joseph and Dolores (Evert) Ridder.  Leona attended Aloys and later GACC, and graduated from Guardian Angels Central Catholic High School. Leona married Jim Meier on August 29, 1970 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in West Point. She was well known in the community for working for several years for the West Point Chamber of Commerce, and later as the Cuming County Zoning Administrator. She was active in her church and community, serving as an EME and CCD teacher at St Mary’s, as well as spending several years on the West Point Public Schools Board of Education.

Leona loved nothing more than spending time with her family, a good book, and an ice cold diet coke.

Leona is preceded in death by her husband Jim Meier, parents Joe and Dolores Ridder, brother Gerry Ridder, brother-in-law Dean Perry, grandsons Cole Christensen and Ben Teutsch.

She is survived by her daughters Amy (Chris) Christensen of Lincoln, Beth (Travis) Syslo of Norfolk, Barb (James) Teutsch of West Point, and bonus daughter Genevieve (Erik) Shaw of Commerce City, CO, her grandchildren Alexis, Jayde, Cameron, Sam, Lola, Lily, Gunar, Ari, and Barrett, her sister Theresa Perry, sister-in-law Elaine Ridder, brother and sister-in-law Tom and Jan Meier, brother and sister-in-law Marvin and Linda Eschliman, and sister-in-law Rosanne Herman, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.
