Lenora E. Jahnke, 86, of West Point, died Sunday, May 15, 2011, at Colonial Haven in Beemer. Funeral service for Lenora Jahnke is 10:30am Wednesday, May 18, 2011 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in West Point with Reverend Richard Bringewatt as Officiant. Burial at Zion Lutheran Cemetery, rural Bancroft, follows the service.  Memorials may be directed to the family.  Stokely Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Lenora was the youngest daughter of Christ and Caroline “Lena” (Pagels) Jahnke. She was born October 29, 1924, at the family farm near Bancroft. Lenora graduated from Zion Lutheran School and was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church, graduated from Zion Lutheran School, and West Point High School in 1942. Following graduation, Lenora worked as a bookkeeper for Baumann Department Store in West Point and helped on the family farm.

Lenora served as Deputy County Judge, was employed with Northwestern Bell, and in the admitting office at St. Francis Memorial Hospital. In 1962, she became the Deputy County Treasurer, then County Treasurer in 1972 and was re-elected in 1974, 1978 and 1982, retiring in 1986. Lenora will be remembered as the primary caregiver to her parents and was their constant daily companion.

She is survived by sister, Laura Zimmerman, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Caroline, Dora and Gertrude Jahnke, Luella Kollmorgen and Alverna Engelbart; brothers, Donald and John Jahnke.
