LaVerna E. Ernesti, 83, of West Point died Monday June 8, 2009 at West Point Living Center. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am. Thursday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Burial will be at St. Michael’s Cemetery. Guild and Christian Mother’s Rosary will be 1:30 pm. Wednesday and Wake services will be 7:00 pm. Wednesday both at Stokely Funeral Home. Visitation will be 9:00 am. until 8:00 pm. Wednesday at Stokely Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Guardian Angels and Central Catholic Endowments. LaVerna was born March 4, 1926on the farm near Olean to Joseph and Anna Knust Kampschneider. She attended school at Sacred Heart Academy at Olean. On January 21, 1948, LaVerna married Aelred Ernesti at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The couple farmed south of Snyder moving to the Ernesti home place west of Aloys in 1954. They retired in late 1985 and moved to West Point. LaVerna was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Christian Mothers and Guild. She will be remembered as a loving mother and hard working farm wife. LaVerna kept a daily diary, journalizing for over 30 years. Survivors include daughters Mary (Ray) Kempf of West Point and Marlene (Keith) Anderson of Oakland, sons Kenneth (Patty) of Carter Lake, IA, and Robert (Colleen) of West Point. Sister JoAnn Evert of West Point, sister in law Marie Kampschneider and brother in law Vincent Dirkschneider both of Dodge, grandchildren Wilma, Tim, Sean, Molly and Terry Ernesti, Roger Kempf, Kari Lempp, Wade and Megan Anderson, great grandchildren Luka and Maria Ernesti, Morgan and Logan Kempf, Mya and Cole Lempp. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Aelred, in July of 1995, sister Alma Dirkschneider and brother Marvin Kampschneider, and infant brothers Norbert and Delvin.
