Laura Zimmermann, 100, of Beemer, formerly of West Point, died Tuesday, June 5, 2012 at Colonial Haven in Beemer. Funeral services will be 10:30 am Monday, June 11, 2012 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in West Point, NE with visitation one hour prior to services. Lunch immediately follows service in the church basement. Burial will be at 1 pm at the Lyons Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Colonial Haven in Beemer or St. Paul Lutheran Church. Stokely Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Laura Augusta Wilhelmina Zimmermann was born November 11, 1911 in Bancroft, NE to Christian “Christ” and Carolina (Pagels) Jahnke. She was baptized, confirmed and attended school at Zion Lutheran Church in rural Bancroft. On June 4, 1933, Laura married Arnold Zimmermann at Zion Lutheran Church. The couple farmed in the Lyons and Bancroft area before operating Zimmermann’s Feed and Seed in Lyons for many years. They moved to West Point in 1983. Laura was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and was very active at the West Point Sunshine Center. Laura was devoted to her family, loved playing cards, singing and flowers. She is survived by sons Gary (Lila) of Omaha and Lowell (Carole) of Newton, IA ; 10 grandchildren, Todd (April) Palmer, Scott (Teresa) Palmer, Mitch (Brenda) Palmer, Laura (Paul) Carmen, David (Nicolette) Zimmermann, Gail (Mark) Taylor, Linda (Tom) Deegan, Suzie (Chuck) Hankins, Michael (Bernice) Zimmermann and Chris (Kolleen) Zimmermann; 16 great grandchildren; Colt and Jordan Palmer, Afton and Bailey Palmer, Tyler, Jason and Thayne Palmer, Aubrey O’Connor, Claire and William Zimmermann, McAllister Deegan, Andrew and Zoey Devney, Asher and Nathan Zimmermann and Anna Zimmermann; sister in law Elaine Zimmermann and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold, August 11, 1999 and daughter, Joyce Palmer, June 16, 2000.
