Lawrence E. “Larry” Dekat, 66, of West Point, NE died Sunday, January 30, 2011 at West Point Living Center. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 Thursday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Reverend Earl Dekat as celebrant with burial at St. Michael’s Cemetery. Wake services will be 7:00 pm. Wednesday at Stokely Funeral Home. Visitation will be 9:00 am. until 8:00 pm. Wednesday at Stokely Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Church. Larry was born July 18, 1944 in Westmoreland, KS to Clemens and Laura Winter Dekat. He graduated from Flush High School in 1963 . On December 28, 1971, Larry married Linda Nelson at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Tekamah, NE. The couple settled in West Pointwhere Larry worked for Iowa Beef Processing. Larry was a member of St. Maryss Catholic Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling and a cup of coffee with friends. Larry was especially proud to be a grandfather. Survivors include his wife, Linda, of West Point, children Ann (Jeff) Badger of Parkersburg, IA, Carrie Dekat of West Point, Jill (Dennis) Johnson of Bellevue, Matt (Sarah) of New Strawn, KS, and Mara Dekat of Sioux City, IA, grandchildren Sam Badger, Matthew and Ian Dekat, sisters Sr. Merita Dekat of San Diego, CA, Rose Ann (Leonard) Dutton of Phoenix, AZ and Doretha (Jerry) Suther of Panora, IA, brothers Tom Dekat of St. George, KS, Joe (Dorothy) Dekat of Irving, TX and Rev. Earl Dekat of Horton, KS. He is preceded in death by his parents and a sister Eileen Boatwright.
