June Sporleder, of Bancroft, NE, formerly of Carroll, IA, died Friday, February 4, 2011, at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City. Visitation will be noon until 8:00 pm. Monday with family present 4:00 pm. until 6:00 pm. at Stokely Funeral Home in West Point, NE. Funeral services will be 11:00 am. Tuesday at Zion Lutheran Church, rural Bancroft, with Reverend David List officiating. Lunch will follow at the school. Visitation will continue in Carroll, IA at 5:00 pm. Tuesday with a prayer service at 7:00 pm. at Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 10:30 am. Wednesday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lidderdale, iowa with Reverend Wiese officiating. Burial with Military Honors will be in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery. Stokely Funeral Home in charge of local arrangements. June was born June 1, 1924 in Winona, MN to Carl and Inga Sorum Bachman. She grew up in Rushford, MN and was a 1943 Rushford High School graduate. June served with the Women’s Army Corps from 1945 until 1948. On February 18, 1950, June married Frederick “Fritz” Sporleder in Winona, MN. The couple farmed for 51 years near Carroll, IA. In October of 2001, June moved to Bancroft to live with her daughter. While living in Iowa, June was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, where she sang in the choir, taught Sunday school and made Banners. She was active with Ladies Aid and LWML, and had been a 4-H leader. In Nebraska, June was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, rural Bancroft, Ladies Guild and LWML. No matter where June lived she enjoyed reading, writing letters, and travel. She will be remembered as a wonderful mother and seamstress. Survivors include a daughter Joyce (Mark) Lase of Bancroft, son Mark Sporleder of Stafford, VA, grandchildren Karen (Andrew) Rohwer, John (Mariah) Lase, Lindsay (John) Davis, Sean Sporleder and Christina Sporleder, great grandchildren Sydney and Chloe Rohwer. She is preceded in death by her husband, Fritz, daughter Marsha Sporleder, and sister and brother in law Fern and Bill Meyer.
