Julius Reimers, 95, of West Point, died Friday, April 13, 2012, at his St. Joseph Retirement Community Home. Memorial Service will be 10:30 am Wednesday at St. Joseph Retirement Community Chapel in West Point with Rev. Christian Meier of West Point and Rev. Carl Kramer of Wahoo officiating. Those wishing to sign the register book may do so Tuesday from 9 am to 8 pm at Stokely Funeral Home which is in charge of arrangements. Julius was born December 21, 1916 on the family farm in Cuming County to Walter and Johanna (Wiechman) Reimers. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church, West Point. He attended school at District #15 Cuming County. On June 24, 1936, Julius was united in marriage to Lucille Kindschuh at her father and mother’s farm southeast of West Point. The couple farmed southeast of West Point. In 1945, they moved to West Point and for 25 years he had the Reimers Trucking Co. transporting grain, livestock and then later cream and butter for the West Point Creamery. Julius after trucking worked for the Nebraska State Department of Roads for 15 years and retired in 1978. He continued to work part-time for Jim Ortmeier’s Auction Firm for ten years. In July of 1998, Julius moved to St. Joseph Retirement Community and lived there for 14 years. Julius was a member of Grace Lutheran Church. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, going to the casino, playing bingo and cards. Survivors include’; son and wife Eugene and Patsy Reimers of Glendale, AZ, daughter and husband Judy and Keith Lutz of West Point, NE, daughter-in-law Doris Reimers of Golden, CO, nine grandchildren’; Debra and Carlo Cornacchia of Littleton, CO, Cyndi Linne of Sarasota, FL, David Reimers of Evergreen, CO, Mark Reimers of Colorado Springs, CO, Karri and Rudolph Resendez of Arvada, CO, Tammy Lutz and Ty Wagoner of Bayard, NE, Melissa and Kory Killingsworth of Lincoln, NE, Angela and Brian Galloway of Omaha, NE, Todd and Erin Lutz of West Point, NE, 14’great grandchildren’; Tyler Linne, Jamie and Grace Cornacchia, Brigg Reimers, Luke andKathryn Resendez, Parker and Hannah Lutz, Dillon and Madeline Galloway, Justice, Titus and Noah Killingsworth and Randal Wagoner, brother Louis Reimers of West Point, NE. Julius was preceded in death by his parents Walter and Johanna, wife Lucille in September 1994, son Willis in September 1953, brothers Wallace and Harvey, sisters Margaret Knuppel, Lillian Beutler and Emma Schmader.
