Joseph Casper Wordekemper, 82, of West Point, died Tuesday, September 16, 2008 at Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Scribner. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am. Saturday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in West Point with Reverend Gerald Gonderinger as celebrant. Public wake with Knights of Columbus Rosary will be 7:00 pm. Friday at Stokely Funeral Home. Burial will be at St. Michael’s Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Church. Visitation will be 9:00 am. until 8:00 pm. Friday with family present 6:00 pm. until 8:00 p. M at Stokely Funeral Home in West Point which is in charge of arrangements. Those wishing to leave on line condolences may do so at www.stokelyfuneralhome.com. Joe was born December 1, 1925 in Cuming County, NE, to Bernard “Ben” and Elizabeth (Kreikemeier) Wordekemper. He attended school at St. Aloysius Catholic School at Aloys. On November 13, 1965 he married Marcella “Sally” Toelle at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in West Point. The couple later divorced. Joe farmed north east of Beemer, drove delivery truck for West Point Cleaners, sold Peets feed and Northrup King Seed. Joe moved into West Point in the mid 1990’s and lived at Somerset apartments. In November of 2007 he moved to Good Samaritan in Scribner. Joe was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and 4th degree Knights of Columbus. In his younger years he enjoyed playing softball and fishing at the Ike’s. He will be remembered as a humble man who enjoyed simple pleasures. Survivors include daughter Michelle Wordekemper of West Point, sons; Jeff (Sharon) of Indianola and Steve (Tammy) of Scribner, sisters; Dorothy (Art) Knobbe of West Point and Bernadette (Francis) Oligmueller of Beemer, brothers; Ervin (Margaret) of West Point and Tom (MaryAnn) of Lavista, granddaughters Miranda and Taylor. He is preceded in death by a sister Veronica Reiman.
