Joseph B. Wisnieski, 75, of Dodge, NE, died Saturday, March 5, at Nye Legacy Health Center in Fremont. Funeral Service will be10:00 am on Tuesday, March 8 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Dodge with burial at St. Wenceslaus Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, March 7 from 2:00-7:00 pm at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church. Family will be receiving friends from 2:00-3:00 pm and from 6:00-7:00 pm. There will be a Knights of Columbus rosary at 3:00 pm and a public rosary at 7:00 pm Monday, March 7 at the church. Military honors by American Legion Post 122. Memorials may be made to American Legion Baseball. Joseph was born January 13, 1936, in Cuming County to Joseph and Philomena (Kreikemeier) Wisnieski. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Dodge. He attended school in Dodge and graduated from Dodge High School in 1954. On February 1, 1958, he married Mary Ida Chapman at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church Clyde. The couple farmed and raised their family southwest of Dodge until moving into Dodge in 1991. He also worked for the Dodge Coop. Joseph was in service to the Army for six years and was stationed in Korea as a member of the Military Police. He played baseball for the Special Forces in Korea. He was an active member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church. He was a member of the American Legion Post 122, a member of Howells Knights of Columbus, and a lifetime member of the VFW. He was a Dodge Public School board member for 24 years, served on the Library Board and state Dairy Board. Joseph also played baseball for the Dodge town team, coached Legion Baseball, and served as the American Legion Tournament Director. Joseph’s passion was watching and supporting his grandchildren. He also enjoyed fishing, golf, baseball, and gardening. He is survived by his wife Mary Ida of Dodge and ten children:Stephen of Dodge, Mary (Kevin) Janata of Howells, Peggy (Bill) Allen of Gainesville, FL, Alice (Ken) Ritzdorf of Elkhorn, Joe (Beth) Wisnieski of Dodge, Janice (Jeff) Bart of Aurora, Sue (Ron) Schommer of Uehling, Dan (Brenda) Wisnieski of Dodge, Matt (Chris) Wisnieski of Lincoln, and Mike (Brandy) Wisnieski of Gretna. Joseph is also survived by grandchildren Jennifer (Clint) Werner, Bryon (Meagan), Kevin, Jason Janata, Katie, Chrissy, Brian (Kelly) Allen, Julie, Jake, Sara Ritzdorf, Joe, Morgan Wisnieski, Shelby, Ben Kuehn, Jordan, Josh, Jonna Bart, Kyle Walton, Brian, Erin (Derek) Draft, Cody, Casey Wisnieski, Mason, Justin, Brandon Wisnieski, and Madi Kate Wisnieski and four great grandchildren: Justin Werner, Sara and Andrew Allen, and Darian Draft. Joseph is also survived by his mother Philomena Wisnieski, brother Gerald (Marsha) Wisnieski, and sister Mary (Dick) Tingelhoff. He was preceded in death by his father Joseph Wisnieski. Stokely Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
