John Lohmeyer, 90, of West Point died November 22, 2006 at the West Point Living Center. Services will be 10:30 am. Saturday at St. Paul Lutheran Church with Reverend Kevin Cook officiating. There will be a Prayer Service Friday evening at 7:00 pm. at Stokely Funeral Home. Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery with Military Honors graveside. Visitation will be 9:00 am. until 8:00 pm. Friday at Stokely Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Mount Hope Cemetery. John William Carl Lohmeyer was born May 5, 1916 in Brooklyn, NY to Louis and Clara Buechler Lohmeyer. He moved to North East Nebraska as a very small child where he attended Burt County country school. John served in the US Army, stationed in Greenland, and cooked on troop trains. After his discharge he worked in a bakery in Omaha. On November 1, 1946 he married Ottelia Kuester in Lincoln. They couple lived in West Point and John farmed east of town, retiring in 1995. John was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, VFW, and Isaac Walton League. He especially enjoyed deer hunting. Survivors include his wife, Ottelia of West Point, daughter Janelle Schulzkump of West Point, son Johnnie of Phoenix, AZ, son in law Delwin Schulzkump of Nickerson, sister Gladys Wangberg of Sun City, AZ, grandchildren Laurie, Louis and Lonnie, great grandchildren Taylor and La Toya. He is preceded in death by grandson Lucas, granddaughter Tina, brother Louis Lohmeyer, sisters Louise Osterloh, Sophia Nelson, May Richardson, and half sister Ella Mueller.
