Joan K. Schmader, 65, of West Point died December 13, 2005 at St. Francis Memorial Hospital in West Point. Services will be 10:30 am. Friday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Reverend Frank Lordemann as celebrant. Guild Rosary will be 1:30 pm. Thursday and Public Wake Services 7:00 pm. Thursday both at Stokely Funeral Home. Burial will be in St. Michael’s Cemetery. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society. Joan was born September 3, 1940 at Peoria, Illinois to Charles and Eileen Hochstatter. As a young lady she moved to California where she graduated from Artesia High School in 1959. On July 2, 1966, she married Larry Schmader at Downey, California. She worked for Pacific Bell Telephone in California before moving to West Point in 1971 where she did day care in her home for 30 years. Joan was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and guild. She enjoyed reading mystery and romance novels and camping. Survivors include her husband, Larry, of West Point, daughter Mindy (Ralph) Meiergerd of Wisner, son Rick (Tricia) of Bellevue, sister Judy (Ron) Anctil of Paramount, California, brother Kevin (Donna) Burtle of Downey, California, mother-in-law Emma Schmader of West Point, granddaughters Brenna Schmader and Emma Meiergerd.
