Jill M. Recker, 48, of West Point, died Monday, December 30, 2024 at Nebraska Methodist Hospital in Omaha after a courageous battle with cancer that spanned 16 years. Memorial service will be 10:30am on Monday, January 6 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in West Point with Rev. John Gierke officiating. Lunch will be in the church basement following the service with burial at a later date. Visitation will be Sunday from 2:00pm to 4:00pm at Stokely Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the family for future designation. Arrangements by Stokely Funeral Home.
Jill Marie Recker was born on February 13, 1976, in Omaha to Robert and Victoria (Haverman) Jones. Jill grew up in Omaha, where she graduated from Omaha Roncalli High School in 1994. She pursued higher education at Bellevue University, earning her Bachelor’s degree. On October 4, 2003, she married Cory Recker in Omaha. Their marriage was filled with love, laughter, and shared adventures as they built their life together.
Jill and Cory lived in Omaha and Blair, where Jill worked as a paraeducator in elementary schools, nurturing countless young lives with her kindness and patience. In 2016, the family moved to West Point, where Jill joined the staff at St. Paul Lutheran School, continuing her passion for working with children.
Jill’s life was filled with joy in the simple things. She loved playing games and cards, attending her daughters’ events, and taking walks. She was an avid sports fan, never missing the opportunity to cheer on her beloved Chicago Cubs and Nebraska Cornhuskers.
Jill’s strength and resilience in the face of her long battle with cancer were an inspiration to all who knew her. Her unwavering positivity, faith, and love for her family left an indelible mark on the lives she touched.
Jill is survived by her husband, Cory, and their two daughters, Melissa and Hailey; mother, Victoria Dunkeson; sisters, Tracey (Joe) Steinbock and their children, Ethan and Chloe Steinbock and Christine Jones both of Omaha; parents-in-law, Terry and Vicky Recker of West Point; grandmother-in-law, Claire Smidt of West Point; and sister-in-law, Stacy (Kevin) Kreiger and their daughter, Kylee of North Bend. She is preceded in death by her father, Robert Jones; step-father, Terry Dunkeson; and her grandparents.
