Janet Parr, 86, of West Point, died Monday, August 13, 2018 at Faith Regional Health Center in Norfolk. Funeral Mass will be Friday, August 17 at 10:30am at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Reverend Steve Emanuel as celebrant. Burial will be at St. Michael’s Cemetery with lunch following at the St. Paul Lutheran Church hall located at 434 N. Lincoln St. in West Point. Visitation will be Thursday from 12:00pm to 4:00pm with a guild rosary at 1:30pm at Stokely Funeral Home. Visitation will continue Thursday from 5:00pm to 6:30pm with a Vigil Service at 6:30pm at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Memorials may be made for Masses or to GACC Endowments. Stokely Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Janet Adele Peitzmeier was born September 8, 1931 to Chris and Caroline (Bart) Peitzmeier on a farm between Dodge and Howells. She was baptized and confirmed at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at Olean and attended Sacred Heart Academy and St. Wenceslaus Schools. Janet graduated from Dodge High School in 1949 and went on to attend Wayne State College for 2 years. She taught in Cuming, Platte, and Butler Counties and did numerous days of substitute teaching in many schools. On May 27, 1952, Janet married Anthony’Tony’ Parr at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Dodge. The couple lived in Columbus, York, and West Point where they owned Standard Oil Company. Janet and Tony celebrated their 60 years of marriage in 2012. Janet was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church where she served on the parish council, guild, Catholic Daughters, and Christian Mothers. She enjoyed golf, playing bridge, and was known for her cooking, baking rolls, apple pies, and chocolate chip cookies. She enjoyed teaching her grandchildren to bake, play golf, and play card games. Janet is survived by her children, Jody (George) Poullos of Omaha, Mike (Deb) of Columbus, and Todd (Kelly) of Elkhorn; grandchildren, Mindee (Ryan) Keleher, Leah Parr, Kayla Parr, J. T. Parr, Brooklynn Parr, and Jarrett Parr; great-grandchildren, Mya Keleher and Alex Parr; and siblings, Bud Peitzmeier of Omaha, Carol Peitzmeier of Omaha, and Dave (Diane) Peitzmeier of Edmond, OK. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Tony; son, Tom; and brothers, Jim and Glenn Peitzmeier.
