James Lux 83, of West Point died Monday December 10, 2012 at West Point Living Center. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 am. Thursday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Reverend Thomas Lux as celebrant. Wake with Knights of Columbus Rosary will be 7:00 pm. Wednesday at Stokely Funeral Home. Burial will be at St. Michael’s Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Church or to Guardian Angels or Central Catholic Endowments. Visitation will be 9:00 am. until 8:00 pm. Wednesday at Stokely Funeral Home which is in charge of arrangements. James H. Lux was born April 22, 1929 at Shelby, NE to Herman and Clara (Sieverding) Lux. He grew up helping his family farm in eastern Nebraska and western Iowa. He received an early diploma from Beaconsfield, IA High School and graduated from Grand River, IA High School where he finished his senior year. Following school, Jim settled in West Point and began farming with his brother, Ray. On October 2, 1952, Jim married Marie Lauritsen of West Point at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. The couple farmed and Jim started his own pure-bred Angus operation around 1962. Jim was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. He served on the Cuming County Fair Board for 18 years and was a County Supervisor for 12 years. He was active in 4-H leadership, Knights of Columbus Third and Fourth Degrees, St. Joseph’s capital campaign and the Nebraska Angus Association. The great love of his life was always his wife, Marie. His other loves were his children and grandchildren, his cattle, horses and dogs. Jim is survived by his wife of 60 years, Marie of West Point; daughters Kathy (Levi) Moore of Hooper, Shari Ruskamp of West Point, sons Fr. Tom Lux of Holdrege and Bill Lux of Beatrice; grandchildren Chris (Mandy) Moore, Tracy Moore, Eric (Nicole) Ruskamp, Aaron (Erin) Ruskamp, Andy Ruskamp, and great grandchildren Blake Uhing, Bailey Harpham, Zane and Ace Moore, Kyson and Gavin Ruskamp and Paxton James Ruskamp; brother Tom (Ad) Lux of North Carolina; sisters Dorothy Alvine of Colorado, Mary Kopocis of Omaha, Sr. Terese Lux of Omaha; sisters-in-law Katy Lux of West Point and Lavern Schulzkump of Beemer. Jim was preceded in death by his parents; brother Ray Lux, brothers-in-law Ray Alvine, Walt Kopocis and Amos Schulzkump.
