James B. “Jim” Bracht, 56, of Lincoln, died November 10, 2009, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Lincoln. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 am. Saturday at St. Boniface Catholic Church, rural West Point, with Reverend Gerald Gonderinger as celebrant. Public Wake services will be 7:00 pm. Friday at Stokely Funeral Home in West Point. Burial will be at the St. Boniface Cemetery. Visitation will be 9:00 am. until 8:00 pm. Friday at Stokely Funeral Home with family present 5:00 until 7:00 pm. Memorials may be made to Central Catholic High School Endowment or Diabetes Association. Those wishing to leave on line condolences may do so at www.stokelyfuneralhome.com. Jim was born December 30, 1952 at West Point to Bernard “Ben” and Ann Eusterbrock Bracht. He attended St. Boniface Catholic School at Monterey and graduated from West Point Central Catholic in 1971. He played football at Wayne State College and graduated from University of Nebraska at Lincoln. Jim was a manager of Kwik Shops in Lincoln until he retired in 2006 due to ill health. Jim attended St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Lincoln. Jim enjoyed singing and sang solos on many occasions, most memorably, the song “A tiny toy for a tiny boy” which he sang to his family every Christmas. He easily made friends with his Kwik Shop customers and loved following his great nieces and nephews in their activities and sporting events. Survivors include his sisters Kathleen (Charles) Winbinger, Mary Ann (Walt) Ernesti, and Lois (Mel) Kluthe all of Omaha, aunts Henrietta and Ida Bracht of West Point, Sister Alfreda Bracht of Mishawaka, Indiana, and Wilma Vogel of Idaho, many nieces, nephews, great nieces , great nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Rita.
