Irene S. Morrell, 88, of Ft. Collins, Formerly of Arthur and North Platte, died April 25, 2011 at Lemay Avenue Health and Rehab in Ft. Collins, CO. Memorial Services will be 11:00 am. Sunday at Gubser Funeral Home in Ogallala, NE. Burial will follow at Arthur Cemetery. Memorials may be directed toward the family. Sylvia Irene Morrell was born October 6, 1922 at Arthur to Joseph and Sylvia Dancer Kennedy. She attended school in Arthur before going to Beauty School. On July 19, 1941, Irene married Guy Morrell. The couple worked for Waldo Hawthorn Ranch near Arthur, Irene as a cook. The couple moved to Boulder, CO and then in the mid 1980’s moved to North Platte where Irene did babysitting. The couple moved to Wellington, CO in 2001. While living in North Platte, Irene was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. She attended River of Life Church in Wellington. She was known for her wonderful cooking and baking and enjoyed embroidering Tea Towels. Irene will be most remembered for her unfailing trust in God, her even temperament, and her love for family. Survivors include daughter Darla Smyth of Englewood, CO, son Terry (Patty) Morrell of Douglas, WY, 11 grandchildren and several great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Guy, in 2005, son and daughter in law Gary and Betty Morrell, daughter and son in law Sharon and Robert Fosbinder, and son in law Bernie Smyth.
