Services will be 10 am Monday at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Dodge. A public vigil will be held 7 pm Sunday with visitation from 3 pm to 8 pm at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Dodge. Stokely Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Iona M. Laudenklos was born January 11, 1929 in Dodge, NE to Steve and Elizabeth (Knust) Liekhus. She attended Sacred Heart Academy in Olean and graduated from Howells High School in 1946. She was employed by Mutual Benefit Insurance Company in Omaha before returning to Dodge to work at Vlach’s Grocery Store. She married George Laudenklos in 1952. In 1967 she opened Dodge Snack Shop where she continued to work until her retirement in 1987. Following her husband’s death in 2007, Iona became a resident of Parkview Nursing Home in Dodge. She was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church where she held many different offices and was instrumental in developing the “prayer line”. She was a member and past President of Dodge Auxiliary. She is survived by sisters Arlene (Ray) Smeal, Bernice (Art) Kreikemeier, both of Dodge, Alyce (Joe) Janata of Howells, and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, brother Dale Liekhus, sister in law Angie Liekhus and brothers in law Ray Smeal and Joe Janata.
