Iola A. Kinney, 94, of West Point, died Tuesday, March 4, 2008 at the West Point Living Center. Funeral service will be 10:30 am Saturday, March 8, 2008 at Grace Lutheran Church in West Point. Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 2:00-8:00 pm with family receiving friends from 6:00-8:00 pm at Stokely Funeral Home in West Point. Memorials can be made to Mt. Hope Cemetery Memorial Fund. Iola was born May 8, 1913 on a ranch near Missoula, MT. and was raised by her parents, Frederick and Sadie (Davison) Young in Crofton, NE where she attended school. She married Herbert Kinney on April 15, 1938 in Bloomfield, NE and moved to West Point in 1949. They were married 58 years. Iola worked as a clerk at Baumann’s Department Store and Lil’ Carmody Dress Shop from 1950 to 1975, when she retired. In her leisure, she enjoyed time with family and reading a good book. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and taught Sunday school. Survivors includesons Robert “Bob” (Dee) Hoesing, from a previous marriage, of Colorado Springs, CO, Gary (Lois) Kinney of Hartington, NE; daughter, Sherry (Bill) Rasmus of West Point; 10 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 3 great, great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband on April 24, 1996 and an infant daughter Kathleen Kinney.
