Helen Irene Kassmeier, 92, of Hooper, formerly of Scribner, died Tuesday, March 29, 2011 at Hooper Care Center. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 am. Friday at St. Lawrence Catholic Church at Scribner. Burial at St. Leo’s Catholic Cemetery at Snyder. Wake Services 7:00 pm. Thursday at Stokely Funeral Home in West Point. Helen was Born April 26, 1918 on the family farm on the Cuming/Dodge County Line, to Frank and Theresa (Kluthe) Heimann. She attended St. Boniface School at Monterey. On October 8, 1941 Helen married Edward J. Kassmeier at St. Boniface Catholic Church at Monterey. The couple farmed in the St. Charles area retiring to Scribner in 1985. Helen was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Scribner and the St. Lawrnece Guild. She loved to play cards, cook and bake; but most of all she enjoyed her grandchildren and followed their activities. Helen loved to quilt, making a blanket for each of her grandchildren. Helen is survived by sons Gene (Jo) of Hooper, Norm and (Maxine) of Tekamah, Dale and (Jeanette) of Papillion, and Gary (Deb) of Hooper; a sister Olivia Baumert of Howells; grandchildren Annette (Greg) Otteman, Judi (Dave) Borrenpohl, Tim (Lynda) Kassmeier, Jill(Steve) Gossett, Ryan Kassmeier, Tara (Michael) Nagel, Troy (Patty) Kassmeier, Tasa L. Paul, Michele and Megan Kassmeier, Jason (Ashley), Jeff and Jordan Kassmeier; great grandchildren Zoe and Kassidy Otteman, Chelsea, Zac and Marissa Borrenpohl, Elizabeth Kassmeier, Shea and Avery Gossett, Madysn and Reid Nagel, Abigayl, Samuel, Cathryn and Tessa Kassmeier, Klayton and Kameron Kassmeier. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Edward, brothers Raymond, Gilbert and Francis, sisters Dorothy and Delores.
