Helen “Sunny” Huss, 92, of West Point, died December 20, 2006 at West Point Living Center. Memorial Services will be 1:00 pm. Saturday, December 30, 2006 at the West Point Baptist Church with Reverend Curtis Hineline officiating. There will be no visitation. Those wishing to leave on line condolences may do so at www.stokelyfuneralhome.com. Helen was born March 12, 1914 in Newton, Iowa to John and Myrtle Ritter Buchanan. She grew up in Newton and was a 1936 graduate of the University of Iowa at Iowa City. On December 7, 1942 she married Bruce C. Huss in Chicago, IL. The couple lived in Mendota, Illinois from 1957 until 1976. Helen moved to Oakland, NE in 1997 from Osseo Wisconsin. Sunny raised and trained Arabian horses, including two National Champions. She retired in 1996. Survivors include her daughters Jan (Don) Behringer of Osseo WI, and Candace Buchanan of Dekalb Junction, WY, sons John and Mark (Shelley) both of Oakland, and 7 grand children. She is preceded in death by her husband, Bruce, on April 28, 1993, sisters Doris Iskey, Gladys Brown, and Hazel Buchanan, and brothers Walter, Porter, and Jack Buchanan.
