Harold’Hark’ Wegner, 87, of West Point died Sunday, June 15, 2014 at Arbor Manor in Fremont. Funeral Services will be 1:30pm Wednesday at St. John’s Lutheran Church on the Dodge/Cuming County Line, with Reverend Janice Heidlberger officiating. Burial with military honors will be at the church cemetery. Visitation will be Noon until 8:00pm Tuesday at Stokely Funeral Home in West Point, with family receiving friends 5:00pm until 7:00pm. Memorials may be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church or St. Joseph Retirement Community. Harold Duane Wegner was born March 31, 1927 in Scribner to Walter and Nellie (Steinberg) Wegner. He attended Dodge County District 50 elementary school and was a 1944 graduate of Scribner High School. Harold served in the United States Army from October 1950 until October 1952, stationed in Korea. On April 26, 1959, Harold married Berdina Drieling at St. John’s Lutheran Church on the Dodge/Cuming County line. The couple farmed and raised their family on the county line, and Harold worked at the Scribner Alfalfa Mill as plant foreman for 30 years. Harold was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, and his favorite pastimes included hunting, trapping, and fishing. Survivors include his daughter Lori (Keith) Stieren of West Point; sons LeRoy Wegner of West Point, Loren (Nancy Wordekemper) Wegner of Scribner, and Lynn (Mary Beth) Wegner of West Point; sisters Marjorie Mackey of Laurel and Bernice Grimm of Fremont; brother Alvin Wegner of Scribner; grandchildren Lisa, Ashley, and Derek Wegner, Nicole (Andy) Starman, Alex Stieren, and Brooke and Whitney Wegner; great-grandchildren Hollie and Hayden Cole, and Emma McCreary. Harold was preceded in death by his parents; wife Berdina on July 2, 2011; and brothers Lyle Wegner and Walter’Bud’ Wegner. Stokely Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
