Harold Edward Kerby, 75, of Uehling, died March 1, 2007 at West Point Living Center. Funeral Services will be 10:30 Monday at the Uehling Congregational Church, with Don Hill officiating. Burial with Military Honors will be at the Baptist Cemetery. A memorial has been established. Visitation will be noon until 8:00 pm. with family present 5:00 pm. until 8:00 pm. Harold was born July 2, 1931 at Grinnell, Iowa to Ogle Leon “Lee” and Nellie Mae Rucker Kerby. He grew up in southern Iowa and graduated from Sully, Iowa High School in 1948. Following Graduation, he attended Iowa State University and became employed by the Dairy Herd Improvement Association. From January, 1952 until February, 1954, he served in the US Army, stationed in Germany. On July 2, 1952, he married Barbara Lee at Centerville, Iowa. The couple farmed in northern Missouri until 1959. Harold had his own decorating business in Des Moines from 1960 until 1968. The family moved to Nebraska where Harold worked in sales for Arbie’s Feed. The couple settled in Uehling in 1985 and Harold worked for 2 guys painting out of Oakland retiring in 2000. Harold was an active member of Uehling Congregational Church, American Legion Post #196, Hooper VFW, 13 year member of AA, and was a retired volunteer fireman. Survivors include his wife, Barbara, of Uehling, son John (Deborah) Kerby of Wisner, Sheryl (Don) Hill of Pleasantville, Iowa, Kayla (Randy) Siebrandt and Judy (Kurt) Hansen both of West Point, brother Don (Ruth) Kerby of Des Moines, Iowa, sister in law Madge (Don) Fels of Norwalk, Iowa, brother in law Bill (Charlene) Lee of Holbrooke, 10 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother.
