Harold D. Bunn, 80, of West Point, died Monday, May 2, 2011 at St. Francis Memorial Hospital. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 am Friday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Rev. Frank Lordemann as celebrant. Burial will be at St. Michaels Cemetery. Wake services will be 7 pm Thursday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Visitation will be noon to 4 pm Thursday at Stokely Funeral Home and continue at the church prior to the Wake Service. Memorials may be made to West Point Rescue or St. Michael’s Cemetery. Harold was born July 18, 1930 on the family farm Southeast of Dodge to Rex and Anna Filz Bunn. He attended country school and Scribner High School. As a young man he worked on a migrant harvest crew. On April 10, 1950 Harold married Kathleen “Kay” Surman. Harold farmed with his dad and brothers at Dodge and worked at the Alfalfa Mill, later Land O Lakes, in West Point retiring in 1982. Harold was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and West Point Sportsman’s Club. He enjoyed turkey hunting with family and friends, tending to his garden and spending time with his children and grand children. He was anticipating the birth of his next great-grandchild. Survivors include sons Darrell (Rita) Bunn and Randy Bunn both of West Point, daughters Linda Niles of West Point, Cindy (Bob) Petersen of Gretna and Judy Lase of West Point, fourteen grandchildren, one step grandchild and nine great grandchildren, sisters-in-law Viola Bunn of Fremont, Arlene (Bernie) Janning of Carroll, IA, Darlene Wortman and Katie Surman both of West Point. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, “Kay”, March 3, 2011, brothers Harry and Dale Bunn, sisters Irene Goebel, Ardis Shadda, great grandson Zachary Nile, niece Lou Ann Shadda and nephew Ronnie Remm.
