Gordys “Butch” Thietje, 92 of West Point, died Monday, December 3, 2012 at West Point Living Center. Funeral services will be 10:30 am. Thursday at Grace Lutheran Church with Reverend Christian Meier officiating. Burial at Mount Hope Cemetery. Visitation will be 9:00 am. until 8:00 pm. Wednesday with family receiving friends 5:00 to 7:00 at Stokely Funeral Home. Stokely Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. A memorial has been established. Gordys “Butch” Thietje was born July 7, 1920 in West Point to Gordys Fred Sr and Theresa (Remm) Thietje. He attended country school and then Guardian Angels School. On September 25, 1940, Butch married Elveria Pagels at Grace Lutheran Church. The couple lived on a farm near Wisner before moving to West Point where Butch operated Thietje Trenching Company for 50 years. Butch was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Isaac Walton League and was a West Point Volunteer Fireman. He was the first Rolling Eagles Wagon Master and enjoyed fishing. He and Elveria were snowbirds, wintering in Florida, Nevada, Texas and Arizona. Butch is survived by his wife, Elveria of West Point Daughter Janice (Dean) Lubker of West PointDavid Lubker and Christy NeelDacee Hall and Wesley NeelDaniel Lubker Daughter Joyce (Glen) Rodick of Bancoft Son Dale (Darlene) Thietje of West Point Stacey (Dave) ErnestiNatalie (Eric) Myers Maxwell and Olivia Myers Sister-in-law Verona Vogel of Battle Creek, NE He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Johnnie Thietje; and sisters Dorothy Kloke and Verly Phillips.
