Gladys May Reimers, 85, of West Pint, died March 14, 2007 at West Point Living Center. Services will be 2:00 Saturday at Grace Lutheran Church with Reverend Donald Olson officiating. Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association or Mount Hope Cemetery. Visitation will be 9:00 until 8:00 pm. Friday with Family receiving friends 6:00 pm. until 8:00 pm. at Stokely Funeral Home. Those wishing to leave on line condolences may do so at www.stokelyfuneralhome.com. Gladys was born June 19, 1921 at West Point to John and Pauline Poledna Benne and was baptized April 16, 1922 at Grace Lutheran Church. She attended West Point Public School and graduated with the class of 1939. On June 19, 1940 she married Melvin Reimers at Grace Lutheran Church parsonage. The couple farmed south east of West Point for 27 years before moving into West Point. There, Gladys worked as a cook at the West Point Nursing Home, retiring in the early 1980’s. Gladys was a member of Grace Lutheran Church where she was an active volunteer, involved in Ladies Aide and did quilting. She enjoyed baking and spending time with her family. Survivors include daughters Linda Lofgren of West Point and Jean (Douglas) Wellman of Council Bluffs, IA, grandchildren Jeffery (Amy) Lofgren and Christopher (Jaala) Lofgren all of Lincoln, Jennifer (C. J.) Noelck of Atlantic, IA, Anthony (Carolyn) Wellman and Jill (fiancee; Eric Applegate) Wellman all of Council Bluffs, sister in law Irene Benne of Springfield, OH, 7 great grandchildren Abagail, Andrew and Aidan Lofgren, Devon and Connor Chab, Jesse Hall and Alexis Noelck. She is preceded in death by her husband, Melvin in September, 1974, brothers Dallas and John, Jr. “Jack” Benne, sisters Evelyn Reimers and Dorothy Ross, and son in law Dwight Lofgren in August, 1981.
