Gina Metschke, 54, of Snyder, died Sunday, July 6, 2025 at her home. Funeral services for Gina Metschke are 10:30am on Wednesday, July 9, 2025 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in West Point with Reverend John Gierke officiating. Burial will be at St. Peter’s Lutheran Cemetery, Snyder with lunch following at the Snyder Fireman’s Ballroom. Visitation is Tuesday, July 8 from 5:00-7:00pm at Stokely Funeral Home in West Point. Gina Ruth Metschke was born October 6, 1970 in Fremont, NE to Nile and Nancy (Chudomelka) Kienbaum. Gina grew up on the family farm south of Snyder, attended Snyder Public School through her elementary years and graduated from Scribner-Snyder Public School in 1989. She completed her education at Bahner’s Beauty School in Fremont. Gina married Michael Metschke at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Snyder on July 22, 1989. The couple remained in Snyder, raising their family and contributing to the community.
Gina was active with her support of the Snyder Volunteer Fire Department, was a member of the Lions Club and served on the Snyder ‘125’ Committee. She was instrumental in bringing the circus to town for the 125th Celebration. Gina worked as a Supervisor at Omaha Steaks until the time of her cancer diagnosis and the closing of the plant. Her love of children and joy in cooking led her to work in the cafeteria at Logan View Public School until her health no longer permitted. Gina enjoyed harvesting their garden, camping at Yankton and “doing the laundry” at Stringers on those camping trips.
Survivors include husband, Michael of Snyder; daughter, Chantal (Mikal) Hawk and family, Adilynn and Kacey of Eagle River, AK; daughter, Amber (fiancé Nicholas Hellbusch) of Omaha; father, Nile Kienbaum of rural Scribner; sister, Kim (Tom) Krienert of rural Scribner; nephew, Cole (Whitney) Krienert and family, Charlie and Oliver; and niece, Kelsey (Adam) Ernesti and family, Owen, Aubrey and Everly
Preceded in death by her mother, Nancy; brothers, Troy and Jamie; parents-in-law, Lavon and Barb Metschke
