Gertrude Groene, 96, of rural West Point, died Sunday, August 10, 2008 at West Point Living Center in West Point. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 am. Tuesday at St. Aloysius Catholic Church at Aloys with Reverend Frank Lordemann as celebrant. Burial will be in the St. Aloysius Cemetery. Wake services will be 7:00 pm. Monday at Stokely Funeral Home. Visitation will be noon until 8:00 pm. Monday at Stokely Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice. Gertrude was born on the family farm near Aloys on August 17, 1911 to Ferdinand and Margaret Stieren Groene and attended St. Aloysius Catholic School at Aloys. Gertrude worked in West Point until the 1948 death of her mother. She then dedicated her life as a homemaker for her father and brothers on the family farm. She was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church and guild. Survivors include her sister, Elizabeth Ernesti of West Point; bother Hubert of West Point, and twins John and Clemens of Howells, 14 nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers Joseph, Paul and Edward and sister Teresa Peatrowsky
