George Frank Steffensmeier, 87, of Dodge, died Sunday, September 30, 2007 at Park View Nursing Home in Dodge. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am. Wednesday at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Dodge with Reverend Ralph Steffensmeier as celebrant. Rosary will be recited at 3:00 pm. Tuesday and Wake Services will be 7:00 pm. Tuesday, both at the Church. Burial will be at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery at Olean. Visitation will be 1:00 pm. until 8:00 pm. Tuesday at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Dodge. Memorials may be made to Sacred Heart Cemetery Fund. Those wishing to leave on line condolences may do so at www.stokelyfuneralhome.com. George was born February 21, 1920 at West Point to Bernard and Julia Renner Steffensmeier. He grew up on the farm north east of Howells and attended Sacred Heart Catholic School at Olean. Before his marriage, George worked on the family farm and did migrant farm work. On August 22, 1950, he married Angela Dinslage at St. Aloysius Church at Aloys. The couple farmed northwest of Dodge. George was proud of his farrow to finish hog operation. He enjoyed showing his hogs from Cuming or Dodge Counties to Aksarben or the State Fair. George moved into Dodge in 1992 and retired from farming in 1995. George was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Catholic Order of Foresters, served on the Board of Directors for Farmers Union Coop and Oil Association, Howells, 27 years on the Lincoln Township Board, and District 46 School Board. George enjoyed socializing, playing cards and bowling. Before moving into Dodge he was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Survivors include daughters; Joan (John) Abboud of Omaha, Jean (Jake) of California City, CA, sons ; Ron (Sherry) of Manchester NH, Merlyn (Barb) of Dodge, and Jim (Sherri) of Liberty, MO, sisters; Caroline Kemp of Dodge, Theresa Dinslage and Agnes (Bill) Hunke both of West Point, brothers Walter (Mary Ann) of Dodge, Reverend Ralph Steffensmeier of Cedar Rapids, and Norbert (Janice) of Omaha, sister in laws; Henrietta Steffensmeier of West Point, Anne Steffensmeier of Howells, and Lorene Steffensmeier of Dodge, grand children; Sara Steffensmeier, Rachel Mack, Aaron (Casey) Steffensmeier, Justin, Adam, Nick, and Eric Steffensmeier, great grandchildren ; allie and Alayna Steffensmeier, step grandchildren; Savannah, Stacy and Kayla Mullenix , Paul Abboud and Lisa Bradrick, step great grandchild; Tyler Mullenix. He is preceded in death by his wife Angela, October 9, 1979, brothers Herman, Aloysius, Nicholas, Vincent, and Wilfred, sister in law Marie Steffensmeier, and brothers in law Leonard Dinslage and Leonard Kemp.
