George Robert Laudenklos, 78 of Dodge, died, Friday, May 4, 2007 at his home. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 Tuesday at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Dodge with Reverends Roland Peschel, Francis Kubart and Mel Weise as concelebrants. Burial will be in the St. Wenceslaus Church Cemetery. Public Wake Services will be 7:30 pm. Monday at St. Wenceslaus. Visitation will be noon until 8 pm. Monday at the church. Memorials may be made to the church. Those wishing to leave on line condolences may do so at www.stokelyfuneralhome.com.George was born May 11, 1928 on the family farm at Dodge, NE to Louis and Albina Hlavac Laudenklos. There he attended school, graduating from Dodge Public High School with the class of 1946. As a young man he was employed at Humlicek Furniture, Chicago North Western Rail Road in the Signal department, and the Crowell Elevator. On November 11, 1952 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church he married Iona Liekhus. The couple lived in Dodge. George then began his 30 year career with Peets Feed out of Beemer as a salesman retiring in 1982. George was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Holy Name Society and Ducks Unlimited. George loved playing baseball. He played in the outfield and was known for throwing arm. Hunting, fishing, and gardening were some of his pastimes. George had a passion and it was writing poetry. Many of his poems were published in the Dodge Criterion newspaper. Survivors include his wife, Iona, of Dodge, sister Marie (Marvin) Bartling of Fremont, nieces and nephews and in laws. Preceding him in death were his parents, sisters Margaret Hass, Blanche Lannon and Marcella Peters, brothers Donald Laudenklos, Sr., Joe Laudenklos and Nicholas Laudenklos.
