Fred M. Naber, 90, of rural Scribner, died Friday, October 12, 2007 in Lincoln, NE. Funeral Services will be 2:00 pm. Monday, October 15, 2007 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, County Line, with Reverend Norman Nelson officiating. Burial will be in the Church Cemetery. Visitation will be 11:00 am. until 8:00 pm. Sunday with family receiving friends from 3:00 pm. until 5:00 pm. at Stokely Funeral Home in West Point. Memorials may be made to the Church. On line condolences may be left at www.stokelyfuneralhome.com. Fred Marvin Naber was born August 7, 1917 on the family farm in south east Cuming County to Fred H. and Johanna Rastede Naber. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church and raised on a farm in Southeast Cuming County. He attended grade school at Cuming County District 46 and graduated from Uehling High School. After attending Midland College in Fremont for one year he took a job with Farmer’s Union in Omaha. After working in Omaha for several years he returned to farming. In 1939 Fred married Audrey H. Schroeder. Fred served as Cuming County Assessor for sixteen years from 1968 until 1984. While in office he served as President of the Assessors Association of Nebraska was President and Secretary of the Northeast Nebraska Assessors Association and for five years was a member of the State ad valorem advisory committee. He was a long time member of Toastmasters Club. Fred was a lifetime active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, County Line, and served in many positions including as Church Council President. He also taught Sunday school and was active with the men’s group. He is survived by four children: Sandra Langemeier and husband David, of Lincoln; Donnelly of Colorado Springs, CO; Kevin and wife, Jackie, of Beatrice; and Keith and wife, Loretta, of Lincoln; ten grandchildren: Matthew and wife Linda, Langemeier of Littleton, CO; Elizabeth and husband Kevin O’Farrell, of Austin, TX; Clayton and wife, Marie, Naber of Huntington Beach, CA; Christopher Naber of Colorado Springs, CO; Jennifer Naber (fiancee; Rodney Dillon) of Omaha; Jill and husband, Shawn, Lottman of Odessa, MO; Jamie Naber of Lincoln; Melinda Naber and fiancee;, Lance Beck, of Lincoln; Bradley Naber of Lincoln; and Rachel Naber of Lincoln; and nine great grandchildren; one sister, Elaine and husband Vernon Riensche; four sisters-in-law: Bernice Naber, Arla Naber, Minerva Naber and Drusilla Forsberg. He was preceded in death by his wife, Audrey, his parents and his three brothers: Lawrence, Walter and Myron.
