Florence Bertha Marie Ortmann, 88, of West Point, died July 4, 2005 at St. Francis Memorial Hospital in West Point. Services will be 10:00 am. Thursday at St. Paul Lutheran Church in West Point with Reverend Robert Hedtke officiating. Burial will be in the Bancroft Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Paul School. Visitation will be 9:00 am. until 8:30 pm. Wednesday at Stokely Funeral Home. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Bancroft and was a 1934 graduate of Bancroft High School. On March 29, 1936 she married Alvin Ortmann at Bancroft. The couple farmed for 51 years near Pender before moving into West Point. She had been a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church at Pender where she taught Sunday school and was an Altar Guild member. Florence was known for her beautiful flowers and garden. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and Jolly Fifteen Extension Club. Survivors include a grandson Dale Ortmann of Omaha, daughter-in-law Helen Ortmann of Wisner, nieces and nephews, special friends and care givers Ralph and Lois Schmidt and Wally and Ann Breitbarth. She is preceded in death by her husband Alvin, son Merle, brother Roland Elsasser and sister-in-law Anita, sister Averna and brother-in-law Walter Munderloh.
