Evelyn Wiese, 82, of Wisner, died May 6, 2008 at Colonial Haven Nursing Home in Beemer. Services will be 1:30 Thursday at Stokely Funeral Home in West Point with Vicar Dale Topp, Christ Lutheran Church, Wisner, officiating. Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery. Lunch will follow at Grace Lutheran Church in West Point. Memorials may be made Christ Lutheran Church in Wisner. Visitation will be 9:00 am. until service time, Thursday at Stokely Funeral Home in West Point. Online condolences may be left at www.stokelyfuneralhome.com. Evelyn was born September 15, 1925 at West Point to Edward and Marie Hermann Meier. She grew up on the farm east of West Point and attended district #13 school. On May 12, 1943, Evelyn married Leonard “Slim” Wiese. The couple lived in West Point before moving to the farm north of Wisner in 1945. Evelyn was an active farm wife, raising large gardens and doing lots of canning. She worked side by side Slim with many of the farm chores. She enjoyed quilting. Evelyn was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Wisner. Survivors include her husband, Leonard “Slim” Wiese of Wisner, sons Jerry (Debra) of Norfolk and Gary (Betty) of Wisner, sisters Ethel Becker of Pasadena, CA and Ivalo White of West Point, brother Milton Meier of Beemer, grandchildren Jason, Justin, and Jennifer Wiese , great grandchild, Michael Wiese. She is preceded in death by brothers Marvin and Rolan “Butch” Meier and sister Lila Johnson and Laverne Holtz
