Evelyn Aline Rasmus, 90, of West Point, died Saturday October 6, 2007 at West Point Living Center. Services will be 10:30 am. Tuesday at Grace Lutheran Church with VFW Auxiliary Rites. Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery. Visitation will be 9:00 am. until 8:00 pm. Monday with family present 7:00 pm. until 8:00 pm. at Stokely Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Mount Hope Cemetery or Grace Lutheran Church. Those wishing to leave on line condolences may do so at www.stokelyfuneralhome.com. Evelyn was born June 27, 1917 at Scribner to George and Bertha (Ruehl) Lahmann. She grew up in Scribner, graduating with the class of 1935 from Scribner High School. On July 25, 1942, Evelyn married Earl Rasmus at Grace Lutheran Church in West Point. Evelyn worked as a librarian at the Scribner Library, was Chief Clerk at the War Price and Rationing Board in Scribner during WWII. She moved to West Point in 1945 where her husband was a partner in Rasmus Oil. Evelyn worked as a receptionist at the Elkhorn Valley Clinic, served as recorder in the Cuming County Clerk’s office and then as librarian at the John Stahl Library in West Point. Evelyn was member of Grace Lutheran Church and Joy Circle, VFW Auxiliary, and the Pollyannas of United Church of Christ in Scribner. She enjoyed playing cards, reading and working puzzles. Survivors include daughter Barbara (Jerome) Steffen of West Point, grandchildren; Dan (Christy) steffen, Tina (Eddie) George and Nicole (Casey) Lund, great granddaughters Aspen Lund and Jena Grubaugh, brother Lester Lahmann of San Rafael, CA, nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband Earl in September, 1963 and a granddaughter Elizabeth.
