Eugene L. Heise, 88, of West Point, died Monday, March 16, 2026 at Franciscan Healthcare in West Point. No services are planned at this time. Arrangements by Stokely Funeral Home.
Eugene L. Heise was born on January 23, 1938, and adopted by Lawrence and Eva (Greve) Heise when he was 1 year old. He grew up on a farm near Bancroft where he attended school and farmed alongside his father. Gene was united in marriage to Jacqueline Dutiel and they had 3 daughters. The couple later divorced. On July 20, 1984, Gene married Christine Young in Tekamah. Together, they built a life rooted in family, simple joys, and shared memories. They made their home near Bancroft before moving to West Point in 2021.
Gene dedicated much of his life to farming and agricultural work. He worked at Biles Farm, Blue Ox, and Hesse Produce in Pender.
Gene had a lifelong passion for tractors—especially Massey Ferguson and Farmall models. He loved everything about them: taking them apart and sometimes figuring out how to put them back together again. He also cherished time spent camping with his family, enjoying the comfort of their camper and the laughter that came with those trips. Gene was a man of simple pleasures—he loved polka music, a good meal of meat and potatoes, a cold beer, and the company of those he loved most.
He is survived by his wife, Christine Heise; stepchildren, Trisha (Donnie) Robertus, Trudie (Ryan) Hammers, and Chad (Sandra) Young; grandchildren, Chrissy, Eric, Katrina, Jasen, and Michelle; and many other grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughters, Holly, Jodi, and Mila; granddaughter, Sabrina; great-grandson, Jackson; and his parents, Lawrence and Eva Heise.
