Eugene Adolph Evert, 79, of West Point, died February 28, 2006 at Creighton St. Joseph’s Hospital in Omaham.ass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am. Saturday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Reverend Frank Lordemann as celebrant. Public Wake Service with Knights of Columbus Rosary will be 7:30 pm. Friday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Michael’s Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church or to St. Michael’s Cemetery. Visitation will be 9:00 am. until 3:00 pm. Friday at Stokely Funeral Home and then continue at the Church. Those wishing to leave on line condolences may do so at www.stokelyfuneralhome.com. Eugene was born June 10, 1926 at Howells to Frank, Sr. and Rose Kovar Evert and grew up in the Dodge and Howells area. He attended school at St. Wenceslaus Catholic School. On September 28, 1948, he married Luetta Hunke at St. Boniface Catholic Church at Monterey. The couple farmed north of Dodge, moved to Fremont in 1953, where Gene worked at Hormel. In 1954 they moved to West Point where he owned and operated the Town Pump bar and Gene’s Drive In, retiring in 1988. Gene was member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church 4th Degree Knights of Columbus, and was a past member of the Lions Club. He enjoyed his yard work and flower gardening. He and Luetta enjoyed dancing and following the grandchildren in their activities. Survivors include his wife, Luetta, of West Point, daughters Janet (Chuck) Ross of Wisner, Lois (Michael) Growney of Las Vegas, NV, and Carol (Dale) Lofgren of West Point, sons Allen (Aggie) of Las Vegas, NV, Glen (Peggy) of Elkhorn and Roger (Joyce) of Marshall, MN, brother Frank of Dodge, sister in law Joann Evert of West Point, 15 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, sisters Blanche Dirkschneider, Ruby Jahmarkt and Adella Fischer, brothers Longin and Dennis.
