Elvira “Vera” Schreck, 93, of West Point, died Friday, February 29, 2008 at her home. Memorial services will be 10:30 am. Monday, March 3, 2008 at Stokely Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at a later date at the Manhattan Cemetery. Memorial visitation will be noon until 8:00 pm. Sunday with family present from 3:00 until 5:00 pm. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Kingdom Hall. Those wishing to leave on line condolences may do so at www.stokelyfuneralhome.com. Stokely Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Vera was born March 6, 1914 at Stanton, NE to Henry and Maria “Alma” Holtman Lehman. She grew up on a farm in Stanton County and attended St. John Lutheran School and worked as a hired girl. On January 15, 1937 she married Herbert Schreck in Fremont and they have been married 71 years. The couple lived in Crowell, moving to West Point in 1942. Vera was known for her baking. She enjoyed flowers, embroidery and singing. She was wonderful hostess who loved her family. She was a Jehovah’s Witness and attended the West Point Kingdom Hall. Survivors include her husband, Herbert , of West Point, daughters, Barbara (Elvin) Addy of West Point and Brenda (Delbert) Cole of Tabor, SD, sisters; Frances McKenzie of Little Prairie, WI, Pearl Ulrich, Irene Faubel and Ruby (Bob) schulz, all of Norfolk, brother, Norman (LaVerne) Lehman of Stanton grandchildren; Darren Addy, Tana Clemens, Brant Addy, Jamie Agena and Todd Cole, great-grandchildren, Troy Cole, Tabitha Cole, Jasmin McGinnis, Rivkah Addy and Raven. She is preceded in death by sisters; Ella Holtman, Elsie Koch, Mabel Locke, and brothers, Leonard and Raymond Lehman.
