Elizabeth Prinz, 101, of West Point died Saturday December 31, 2011 at West Point Living Center. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 am Tuesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Reverend Frank Lordemann as celebrant. Christian Mothers, Catholic Daughters and Guild Rosary will be at 1:30 pm Monday at Stokely Funeral Home. Public wake will be at 7:00 pm Monday at Stokely Funeral Home with visitation 9:00 am to 8:00 pm Monday at Stokely Funeral Home. Burial will be at St. Michael’s Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Franciscan Care Services, St. Mary’s Church, GA/CC Endowments. Stokely Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Elizabeth was born on St. Joseph’s Day, March 19, 1910, to Herman and Caroline (Renner) Meiergerd at their family farm west of West Point. Elizabeth graduated from St. Aloysius School at Aloys. On February 22, 1933, Elizabeth married Arthur Prinz at St. Aloysius Catholic Church. The couple farmed southeast of West Point in Cuming County. Following Arthur’s death, in 1959, Elizabeth moved to West Point and was employed at St. Francis Memorial Hospital until her retirement at age 70. Elizabeth was an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Guild, Christian Mothers, Catholic Daughters, and a charter member of St. Francis Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. Elizabeth was an accomplished seamstress, gardener, baker and especially gifted at crocheting. Playing cards with friends was a favorite pastime. She was devoted to daily Mass and the Rosary. Survivors include her daughters Delores (Melvin) Meister and Sr. Mary Beth Prinz OSF, all of West Point, grandchildren Art Meister of St. Louis, MO, Don (Mollie) Meister of Overland Park, KS, Patrick Meister of Phoenix, AZ, Jean (Marvin) Westermann of Maplewood, MN, Barbara (Tim Sylvester) Meister of Santa Cruz, CA, James Meister of San Francisco, CA, David Meister of Seoul, Korea, Julie (Steve) Shay of Glendale, CA, Janet (Paul) Gronert of Shoreview, MN, great grandchildren Katie and Jackie Meister, Austin and Chase Westermann, Andrew Sylvester, Thomas Shay, Julia and Lauren Gronert. Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband Arthur, November 22, 1959, sisters Selma Dinslage, Clara Meiergerd, Cecilia Stalp, brothers Gottfried, Norbert and Joseph Meiergerd.
