Elinor Sue Groth, 65 of West Point died March 8, 2006 at Colonial Haven Nursing Home in Beemer. Services will be 10:30 am. Saturday at St. Paul Lutheran Church in West Point with Reverend Robert Hedtke officiating. Burial will be at Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery south of Bancroft. Memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran or to the Cuming County Fair Foundation. Visitation will be 9:00 am. until 8:00 pm. Friday with family receiving friends 4:00 pm. until 7:00 pm. at Stokely Funeral Home. Those wishing to leave on line condolences may do so at www.stokelyfuneralhome.com. Elinor was born February 28, 1941, in Omaha, to Herbert P. and Ruth Sprague Keefer. She is a 1958 graduate of Papillion High School and a 1962 graduate of Peru State College. Elinor taught school in Omaha before her marriage to Edwin Groth on June 20, 1964 at St. Paul Methodist Church in Omaha. The couple moved north of West Point and Elinor taught at West Point Elementary. They then moved to Silver Creek returning to West Point area in 1977. Elinor also taught school at District #19 north of Beemer, Wisner-Pilger, and Thurston. In 1994 she began working at McDonalds retiring in 2005. Elinor was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and Lutheran Women’s Missionary League. She was active in the 4-H Country Kitchen at the Cuming County Fair for many years. Survivors include her daughter Jane (Tom) Tucker of Anthon, Iowa, sons Mark and John (Julie) of Beemer and Steven (Lisa) of St. Edward, her mother Ruth Keefer of Papillion, brothers David (Sue) and Harold (Susan) Keefer both of Spring Field, grandchildren Jessie and Cody Tucker, Nathan, Megan, Rachel and Katie Groth, Ty, Hannah, Brooke and Audra Groth. She is preceded in death by her husband, Edwin in May of 2005, her father, infant son Douglas Paul and her parent-in-laws Fred and Anna Groth.
