Edwin John Knievel, 80, of West Point, died May 31, 2007 at University Medical Center in Omaham.ass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am. Monday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Reverend Frank Lordemann as celebrant. Burial with military honors will be at St. Michael’s Cemetery. Public Wake with Knights of Columbus Rosary will be 7:00 pm. Sunday at Stokely Funeral Home. Visitation will be 11:00 am. until 8:00 pm. at the Stokely Funeral Home. A memorial has been established for special needs at St. Mary’s Church. Edwin was born March 27, 1927 on the family farm east of West Point to Bernard and Helen Meister Knievel and attended Guardian Angels Catholic School. Ed farmed with his father until he served in the US Army from December 12, 1950 until December 11, 1952. Upon his discharge, he returned to farming. On May 11, 1957, he married Edna Goeken at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in West Point. The couple farmed east of town the remainder of his life. Ed was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, VFW, and Knights of Columbus. Survivors include his wife, Edna, of West Point, son Dale (Joy) Knievel of West Point, daughters Susan (Cory) Bockelman of Pierce, Bonnie (Del) Styskal of Wisner and Carol (Mike) Polacek of Fremont, sisters Mary Ann (Spencer) Smith of Colorado Springs, CO, Henrietta (Arthur) Grewe of Casa Grande, AZ, and Sister Angelita Knievel, OSF, of Manitowoc, WI, brothers Rudy (Alice) of Colorado Springs, CO and Paul (Audrey) of Omaha, grandchildren, Chris, Jackie, Patrick and Ashley Knievel, Brandon Stange, Dustin, Erica and Trevor Styskal, and Kaitlyn Polacek. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Thomas in infancy, Leo and Jerome and sister Dorothy MacInnes.
