Edward Bernard Steffensmeier, 76, of West Point, died October 29, 2005 at St. Francis Memorial Hospital. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am. Wednesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Reverend Frank Lordemann as celebrant. Public wake with Knights of Columbus Rosary will be 7:00 pm. Tuesday at Stokely Funeral Home. Burial will be at St. Michael’s Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Church or St. Francis Hospital. Visitation will be 9:00 am. until 8:00 pm. at Stokely Funeral Home. Those wishing to leave on line condolences may do so at www.stokelyfuneralhome.com. Edward was born October 13, 1929 on the family farm west of West Point to John and Augusta Ermils Steffensmeier. He attended St. Boniface Catholic School. Edward served his country in the US Army during Korea. Following his time in the service, he returned to the farm, retiring in the late 1970’s and moving into West Point. Edward was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, American Legion and VFW. He liked Polka music and enjoyed spending time with his family. Survivors include sisters Margaret Franzluebbers and Mary Goeken, brother Anton (Marie) Steffensmeier, sister in law Bernice Steffensmeier, brother in law Hubert Kampschneider all of West Point, nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Johanna Kampschneider, brother Herman Steffensmeier, and infant sister Angeline.
