Edward Joseph Kassmeier, 92, of Hooper, died Monday, January 19, 2009 at Fremont Area Medical Center in Fremont. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am. Thursday at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Scribner with Reverend Vitalis Anyanike as celebrant. Burial will be in the St. Leo’s Cemetery at Snyder. Wake services will be 7:00 pm. Wednesday at Stokely Funeral Home in West Point. Visitation will be noon until 8:00 pm. Wednesday at Stokely Funeral Home in West Point with the family present 5:00 to 7:00 pm. Memorials may be made to the Hooper Care Center or the Hooper or Scribner Rescue. Edward was born November 29, 1916, on the family farm south west of Dodge to Frank and Minnie Dohmen Kassmeier. He attended country school near the farm. On October 8, 1941, Edward married Helen Heimann at St. Boniface Catholic Church at Monterey. The couple farmed in the St. Charles area retiring to Scribner in 1995. Edward was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Scribner, and Holy Name Society in Snyder. Survivors include his wife, Helen, of Hooper, sons, Gene (JoAnn) oh Hooper, Norm (Maxine) of Tekamah, Dale (Jeanette) of Papillion, and Gary (Deb) of Hooper, sister Valdean (Bill) Hagedorn, of West Point, brothers Dennis of Fremont and Delbert (Esther) of Dodge, 13 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his brothers Anton and Alfred.
