Edna M. Kappius, 93, of rural West Point, died November 12, 2009 at West Point Living Center. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 am. Monday at St. Aloysius Catholic Church at Aloys with burial in the Church Cemetery. Guild Rosary 1:30 pm. Sunday and Public Wake Services will be 6:30 pm. Sunday both at Stokely Funeral Home. Visitation will be 9:00 am. until 8:00 pm. Sunday at Stokely Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to St. Aloysius Cemetery. She graduated from Wisner High School, took Normal Training, and taught country school north west of Wisner. On October 2, 1940 she married Henry Hunke. On February 19, 1955 she married Anton “Tony” Kappius at St. Aloysius Catholic Church. The couple farmed east of Aloys. Edna remained on the farm until moving into the West Point Living Center in January of 2009. Edna was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church and Guild. She enjoyedgardening and reading. Survivors include daughter Rita (Dave) Baden, son Marvin Kappius of West Point, sister in law Magdalene Rief of West Point, nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husbands, Henry in 1950 and Anton in 2004, son David Hunke in 1962, brother Henry Meyer and sister Malga Hunke.
