Edgar Walker, 53, of West Point, died March 4, 2024 at Pender Community Hospital.  Funeral service will be 11:00am on Friday, March 15 at Stokely Funeral Home.  Visitation will be Thursday from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Stokely Funeral Home.

Edgar Jerry Walker was born on July 8, 1970 to Jerry Walker and Sharon Klinghammer in Pittsburgh, PA.  In 1991, Ed crossed paths with Charity Berg, and their journey together culminated in a beautiful union in 1994. The couple made West Point their home in 2006.  Ed dedicated his life to the artistry of bricklaying and masonry, leaving an enduring legacy across the landscape. His craftsmanship adorned prominent landmarks, from the Nielsen Community Center to the West Point Public School and Lucky 77 Casino in Walthill. Ed took immense pride in his work, and his skilled hands have left an imprint on the area.

Beyond his professional pursuits, Ed was a pillar of strength for his family. Ed’s commitment to family extended beyond blood ties; he treated every child as if they were his own, drawing from his own foster care experiences as a child. Ed was not only a master of his trade but also a passionate advocate for physical fitness. His dedication to a healthy lifestyle was not confined to himself; he generously extended his guidance to others, Ed’s zest for life was evident in his love for the 4th of July festivities and a diverse array of musical genres. He found joy in celebrating the freedom and unity that these moments brought.

Ed is survived by his wife Charity; daughters, Faith Walker and Sarah (Thomas) Eckmann; son, Gary (Kylie) and their daughter Everleigh Walker; siblings, Martin (Bernadette) Walker, Audrey (Jonathan) Garza, and Allen Walker; parents-in-law, David Berg and Diana Graham; and many nieces and nephews.  He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Hope in 2014; and brothers, Benjamin and Robert Hernandez.
