Dorothy Wendt, 77, of West Point died September 9, 2006 at Creighton St. Joseph’s Hospital in Omaha. Services will be 1:30 pm. Wednesday at Grace Lutheran Church in West Point with Reverend Donald Olson officiating. Cremation will follow the services with burial at Mount Hope Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be 9:00 am. until 8:00 pm. Tuesday at Stokely Funeral Home with family receiving friends 6:00 pm. until 8:00 pm. Memorials may be made to St. Francis Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. She attended country school near Howells. She moved with her parents to West Point where she was a 1946 graduate of West Point High School. On May 21, 1947 she married Harold Wendt in West Point. The couple farmed and milked east of West Point. Dorothy was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Hospital Auxiliary, Civic Women’s Club and Dairy Women. Harold and Dorothy enjoyed Square with Bustles and Beaux and Round dancing, She was an avid Bowler and loved card playing with the Crazy Card Club. Dorothy worked as volunteer for St. Joseph’s Retirement Home, decorated cakes, and did calligraphy. Survivors include daughters Cynthia Wendt of Phoenix, AZ and Dr. Tamara (Stephen) Wheeler of Mitchell, S. D., son Terence (Janis) of Ogden, Iowa, 3 grandchildren Ryan, Brandon and Cameron Wendt and 2 great grandchildren Logan and Taylor, and many cousins. She is preceded in death by her husband, Harold, on July 18, 1995 and her parents.
