Dorothy G. Reimers, 89, of West Point, died Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at St. Joseph’s Retirement Community. Services are 10:00 am Saturday, May 7 at St. Paul Lutheran Church with Reverend Richard Bringewatt officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery. Visitation will be 9:00 am to 4:00 pm Friday at Stokely Funeral Home and continue from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at St. Joe’s Retirement Community where family will be receiving friends. Memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran School. Stokely Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Dorothy was born February 7, 1922 to Arthur and Mary Moody Slagle in Magnet, NE. In her youth, her family moved to West Point where she attended school. On April 24, 1940 she married Louis H. Reimers at St. Paul Lutheran Church. They farmed southeast of West Point until 1979 when they moved to town. They started Reimers Auction in the early 80’s where Dorothy was the cashier. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Ladies Aid and a neighborhood club. She enjoyed playing bingo and cards at St. Joe’s Retirement Community, and traveling. Survivors include husband, Louis H., son Gary (Connee) Reimers all of West Point, daughter Marlene (Kenneth) Heinsohn of Fremont, brother Roland (La Vonne) Slagle of Laurel, sisters Betty Meier of North Bend, and Donna Rae (Lance) Peterson of West Point, grandchildren Laura Heinsohn of Fremont, Brian (Lou) Reimers and their children, Christopher, Garret and Jacob, all of West Point, Barry (Pam) Reimers of Valdosta, GA and their child Andrew. She is preceded in death by her parents, sister, June Wuestewald and brother, Don Slagle.
