A memorial service will be held April 21 st at 2 PM at the West Point Kingdom Hall. There will be no visitation. Doris Jean Rich was born December 18, 1914 in Pueblo, Colorado. She graduated from Augusta High School in EI Dorado, Kansas in 1933, and from St. Francis School of Nursing in 1936. On October 24, 1941 she was married to William (Bill) Knight in Wichita, Kansas and to this union was born one son, John William Knight. The couple spent most of their married life in Scribner, Nebraska, while Jean worked as an R. N. at what is now St. Francis Memorial Hospital, working with Drs. Andersen, Scherer, and Chadek. She was also employed at the Scribner Medical Clinic for a number of years until her retirement. Jean and her husband enjoyed travel and visited many tourist areas in the United States. Jean also liked horseback riding in her younger years, as well as painting landscapes in oil and watercolor. However, her greatest joy in life was talking to others about God’s Word and his purpose for mankind, and also doing personal Bible research. Jean is survived by three nieces and many, many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, her husband Bill, in 1983, and her son John, three days after his birth. Stokely Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
