Doris Johnson 91, of West Point died Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at West Point Living Center. Funeral Services will be 10:30 am. Friday at St. Paul Lutheran Church with Reverend Richard Bringewatt officiating. Graveside services will be 1:00 at Lyons Cemetery. Closed casket visitation will be 9:00 until 8:00 pm. Thursday with family present 5 until 7 pm. at Stokely Funeral Home. Memorials may be given to St. Paul Lutheran Church and School. Stokely Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Doris was born February 11, 1920 at Rosalie to Bert and Mabel Daggett Gunderson. She grew up on the farm in Thurston County, attended country school and was a 1938 graduate of Rosalie High School. On July 3, 1942, Doris married Weldon Johnson at First Lutheran Church in Oakland. The couple farmed near Lyons for 2 years before moving to a farm north east of West Point in 1944. In 1950 they bought a farm north east of West Point and retired into West Point in February of 1980. Doris was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Ladies Aide, American Legion and V. F. W. Auxiliaries, Gold Star Mothers and Liberty Club. She volunteered at West Point Living Center, enjoyed her gardens, knitting, crocheting and quilting. Survivors include sons Mark (Lois) of West Point, Wayne of Olympia, WA, daughter in law Lori Johnson of Lincoln, 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Weldon, in 1985, sons Kenneth in 1968, and Dale in 1996, sister Helen Lenig, brothers Howard, Leo and Raymond Gunderson and 2 infant brothers.
