Dennis J. Vrtiska, 50, of Wayne, passed away Saturday, March 7, 2008 at Premier Estates in Wayne. Memorial Services will be 10:00 am. at Premiere Estates in Wayne. Memorial Mass willbe held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in West Point on Saturday, March 14, at 10:30 am. Burial will be at a later date. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be directed to North Star Services in Wayne. Stokely Funeral Home in West Point is in charge of services. He was born April 10, 1958 at St. Catherine’s Hospital in Omaha to Joyce Vrtiska. He lived in West Point with his mother and step-father, Francis Westerman, until he was three years old. Due to his many challenges, he moved to Beatrice Regional Center in Beatrice and lived there for 15 years. He was transferred to North Star Services in Wayne when he was 18 years old and lived there until May 2008 when he entered Premier Estates. “Punky” as he was called by his step-father and brothers and sisters, loved the outdoors. He truly enjoyed car rides and loved to go on boat rides or sit by the side of a lake or pond and loved to swing. He is survived by his mother and step-father, Joyce (Bucky) Kindschuh of West Point; sisters, Kathy (Cary) Lodl of Scribner and Dodie (Loren) Jahnke of West Point; three brothers, Conrad (Celi) of Virginia Beach, Va.; Don (Sherri) Westerman of Scribner and Chuck (Sandi) westerman of West Point; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews and his very special family from North Star Services in Wayne, including caregivers Veronica Jaqua and Pam Schieffer. He was preceded in death by his step-father, Francis Westerman, sister and brother-in-law, Sharon and Jeff Jacobsen, grandparents, Adrian and Leona Vrtiska and Anton and Mary Westerman; and several aunts and uncles. Stokely Funeral Home in West Point is in charge of services.
